Was that enough? For now, yes. But my god! That was a really cool episode. However, if I was to take issue with one little thing, we are really getting bashed over the head with the fact the our little Cordy is evil now aren't we? I mean, we are almost crossing into melodrama. The only thing missing is if she were to twirl her mustache (providing, of course, she had one.) Mind you, on the list of possible problems one could have with this episode, this is very low.
Cordy's evil has helped to set up one of the greatest showdowns to come. The three-way between Angelus, Connor and Faith. Well, that is assuming that Faith lives through her latest problem. Has a Vampire Slayer ever been turned? I assume they can be, so that should prove rather vital in what happens in the next episode.
And let's hear it for Wesley pulling out 4-year-old angst. That was priceless. I have to wonder (and I'm sure I'm not alone) if Wesley has indeed gone over the deep end. I mean, you could certainly make the argument that the ends justify the means, but he is downright savage. Quite the contrast from his days as the primmer and properer Watcher.
Speaking of 4-year-old angst, how about next week? Willow (I have been waiting forever for this) comes back to L.A. (remember who broke the news that Buffy was dead?) Now, she gets to go toe-to-toe with Faith again (again, provided Faith pulls through -- which I hope she will.) Having big, bad, wicca Willow around should be great. It will set up Angel's appearance in the Buffy finale, as well as possibly serve as Willow's primer for battling The First on Buffy.
As for Fred and Gunn, the more I see them together, the more convinced I am that one of them is going to die. They were full of angst for awhile and now that that is slowly going behind them, there will be misery ahead. The kind of misery that is written on a tombstone.
Anyhow, I am really pleased with the way the arc is going. If The WB is looking for proof that ANGEL deserves to stick around a while longer, this is it. Of course, the revelation in a recent interview that if ANGEL does stick around there is going to be a major dynamic shift has me a little frightened (in a good way.)
Color me satisfied.
