Discussion, critique and fannish obsession over the works of Joss Whedon and his band of merry geniuses

Mea Culpa
I owe a tremendous apology to Joss and his band of merry geniuses, for the TREMENDOUS lack of faith I showed at the end of Rain of Fire. I should have realized that things wouldn't have been left as bad as they looked. Intellectually, I think I did have that faith, but I just couldn't reconcile it with the feelings of ICK that I was left with back then.
Then came Habeas Corpses and now my faith is restored. And the saddest part is that it took Joss and Co. exactly the first 6 seconds (of the scene with Cordy and Connor) to redeem themselves completely. I hang my head in shame and bow to their superior wisdom.
That being said, I loved Habeas Corpses for some many reasons. The action scenes were cool. Angel was at the top of his game showing a cunning that almost matches Sylvester McCoy!! Wesley is slowly re-inserting himself into the crew, which pleases me no end. Especially, I might add, because the friction between he and Gunn and the angst between them and Fred is just palpably delicious.
As for Cordelia, I stand by the assertion that I made when Rain of Fire aired. Cordelia, having spent some time away from humanity, forgot (just as Buffy did) exactly how to live and how sometimes you have to fight to survive. "The hardest thing in this world is to live in it" (a double quote that I only RECENTLY realized the true meaning of.) I feel that's the best explanation (for now) of what happened (coupled with Brian's perfect realization.)
And, may I say, finally!!! Connor and Angel have progressed (or, perhaps degressed) into a relationship that can have some TRULY great moments. And, yes, some of them are comedic. My favorite (duh) being Angel's attempted explanation of what a Zombie is. I laughed out loud.
This feeds into what my earlier rants regarding BUFFY claimed. ANGEL has started to reach that point where they have that perfect balance of all the Joss ingredients. Action, Drama, Comedy, Thrills, Chills, Spills and a bit of intelligence for good measure. While the series may not be quite there yet (the perfect balance, albeit it's damned good) Habeas Corpses is the perfect first (and important) step.
To Joss and Co., I can only say EXCELSIOR!!!!!
