Discussion, critique and fannish obsession over the works of Joss Whedon and his band of merry geniuses

A word about my FIREFLY review (or lack thereof):
I have to hold off on my review of FIREFLY until I have had a chance to view it. In my haste to leave for work on Friday morning, I set my VCR and the Satellite to FOX @ 8pm to tape FIREFLY -- Which is good! I did, however, forget to put a tape in the VCR so that the unit could complete it's newfound programming.....*sigh*
Anyhoo--
THERE'S RAIN OF FIRE COMING IN FROM THE SOUTHWEST WITH SCATTERED ARMAGEDDON PUSHING IT'S WAY IN FROM UNDERNEATH or THE LONGEST TITLE TO A REVIEW YET!
Well, now that THAT is out of my system-- All I can say is.....MY GOD! That was one cool episode with lots of really kickin' moments.
Where do I start? Angel bringing Wesley back into the fold (if only for the time being), Wesley's reaction when he realizes that Angel had dealings with Lilah "behind his back", Lilah doing her damned best Fred impression (coupled with Wesley's order to keep the glasses on), the spine-tingling moment (and Angel felt it too) when Connor almost begs for Angel's help with little more than a single, potent word. And the end of the episode--clear and precise in showing the "hopelessness" of their situation.
All I can say is DAMN THEM for making me wait to see how we get out of this!!! Unless I am very much mistaken (which could happen) we are not going to be seeing another new ANGEL until JANUARY OR FEBRUARY!! No, I don't know that for sure, but I figure if they are going to preemt it by showing THE WIZARD OF OZ (with the coolest promos I have ever seen for that film) how can I trust that I could see a new episode in the near future?
Anyway, back to RAIN OF FIRE. This episode is perfect for making the mouth water and the brain want to leap out of the skull with rage. For once, I don't even think I have a criticism. OK, maybe just one, but it deals with the very end, so I will save it for a day or two, let it percolate, and see if maybe I can reconcile myself with it -- you know, get over the initial shock.
