Discussion, critique and fannish obsession over the works of Joss Whedon and his band of merry geniuses

Sleeper hit or miss?
Well, Brian pretty much summed the episode up for me as well. I do, however, want to point out two little tidbits which caught my attention (although one of them will have to remain vague--I will explain why.)
My first point is that Buffy looked minutely plain in this episode. I don't tout this as a superficial observation, but as a part of a planned objective which I approved of. Unlike, say two weeks ago, Sarah's makeup was subtle and veru subdued. As a result, she almost didn't look made up, which to me, nicely demonstrated the toll that recent events have been taking on her. She didn't look bad, just a bit plain-er than usual.
My second point is one of disappointment and one that will have to remain vague. While the story moved along nicely and was enjoyable, the dialogue at times lapsed into uber-camp which I just didn;t want to hear. I'm not sure, but I think someone said something to the effect of "Love at first bite" or something equally cliche, which I do not expect on a show of this calibre. The writing staffs on all of JW's shows are usually very good at keeping clear of that sort of thing, but this week's episode just seemed to have a few moments when I wanted to wash my ears out with soap.
ALSO--Anya racks up another cool moment of awkwardness with Spike. Many kudos all around!!!!
That about does it for me for now. I may try to watch the ep. again this weekend if I have time, certainly because I feel like I'm forgetting something..........I'm sure it will come to me.
