Discussion, critique and fannish obsession over the works of Joss Whedon and his band of merry geniuses

Never Say Never Again
Well, first let me just say that I hope that everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving. Personally, mine was less than stellar, but that is for my own blog

Second, let me apologize for not writing sooner. As for why, see above.

Third, let me say "WOW." One helluvan episode to leave us on. If BUFFY is on its way out, it sure is going to be with a bang (pun fully intended.) This episode was chock full of all the things that make BUFFY a great show. "Never Leave Me" was satisfying in every way.

The absence of Giles in this episode only serves to accentuate our fears as to his fate. The destruction of the Watchers Council is a crucial turning point for the slayers, especially with the systematic eradication of slayers in training worldwide. And now we are back to fighting the first vampire? I mean MY GOD!!! Where do we go from here?

Kudos for all the best moments in this episode. Andrew strutting around Matrix-like, being guided by "Warren." His eventual capture by Willow, playing her best evil since Dopplegangland. Anya and Xander adding new rules to the game of GOOD COP, BAD COP. Xander unintentionally pouring his heart out to Andrew, of all people. Spike almost hitting an inner peace for the first time in months only to have his fate snatched away by our "unseen" enemy. Principal Wood? I have an interesting theory about him, which I will put in invisio-text, for those who are interested:

What if Principal Wood is a watcher sent by the council to keep an eye on Buffy after Giles' departure? Or perhaps he is a friend of Giles who he sent to check on the Buffster when he returned to England. Whatever the case, something tells me that he is a good guy of some kind. Then again, "Keep your friends close, but keep your enemies closer."

Where do I disagree with Brian? Simple. This episode has made me hungrier than ever to find out what's going on! Of course this is downplayed by the possibility that the show will be over after this season ends.... But what are you going to do?

On a sidebar, FX showed this week their SLAYERS CHOICE marathon. I was only able to catch a few episodes, but they were able to bring me back to some of the things that make BUFFY a great show. Seeing Angel back on the show, from season 2, was nice, even if he was evil. Watching Xander turn all militant with Willow as a hottie-ghost and Cordelia, to everyone's chagrin, not being turned into a cat. You know, watching Spike from way back when almost gives one the impression that Joss knew where everyone was going way back when. It's just interesting to see where everyone plays out with hindsight.

Anyway, that's all from me for now. According to UPN there is a new BUFFY this week, which can't be true. WHY MUST THEY TORTURE ME SO?!?!?!
