Apologies and Clarification
Brian makes a good point below. And I do agree with him. My difference of opinion, however, is probably caused from the fact that I oversimplified (me?) my feelings. I don't think that Wesley could EVER be an employee, per se, of Angel Investigations again.
That said, let me get of track to address some canon. Yes, Angel killed Jenny, and was never accepted by the group after that. And yes Buffy had to kill him anyway. So let's talk about Angel, shall we? Angel shuts the team out of his life, puts them in danger, and alienates them all. When he finally comes to his senses, Wesley begrudgingly lets him back into the group, but as an employee. With Wesley in charge. This stuck in Angel's craw for a little while, but things settled all right. As I recall (and while I may not be sick, so I have no excuse for my memory being flawed -- by the way, I hope Brian feels better) the group kept Angel at a bit of a distance for a while after that. He had to earn their trust back, which he did.
That's my canonical argument. Add to that that what Wesley did was wrong, but justified. Let's consider that. Was Wesley wrong to think Angel capable of killing his own child? He damned near did it! Wesley was guilty of being scared. And yes, what he did was REALLY BAD and should not just be shrugged off. But hasn't he atoned? Finding and bringing Angel back? Finding Cordelia? Helping whenever asked? (and, for the most part, he has.) I mean how much more can he do?
My plan for him would be to move back into the hotel (the last episode showed that it was certainly big enough) and run his own agency from there. Lorne seems to be doing that, so why can't Wesley. He can be a consultant and can help out from time to time. No, I don't expect for him to be an equal part of the team, and no I don't expect him to lose his edge (it's cool and a stark contrast to when we met him -- both in Buffy and in Angel.)
He wants to come back. He's practically said so (not literally, of course.) He is almost looking for approval from Angel the way a rebellious adolescent secretly does from his father. I think it's time for this festering wound to scab over. Not heal, but maybe scab and scar.
